Annual Parish Meeting 2023
Last month we held the Annual Parish Meeting and the Neighbourhood Policing Team, Southmead Surgery, Neighbourhood Plan experts and Buckinghamshire Councillors joined us to discuss village matters, community initiatives and future projects. For the first time the meeting was recorded and the presentations are available at http://farnhamroyal-pc.gov.uk/annual-parish-meeting-2023/
A homecoming for a piece of local history
After the Farnham Pump Public House closed in 2008 the sign was removed and stored in the parish council office.
We are pleased that with the help and support of Berkeley Homes we have been able to return this piece of local history to Farnham Royal.
Residents and visitors can now enjoy the painting as it has been installed in a specially made case on the wall near its former home.
We would like to thank Berkeley Homes for designing and manufacturing the case which will ensure it can be enjoyed for years to come.
Speeders beware…our new Community Speedwatch scheme started today!
Many thanks to volunteer Tony D’Arcy and Tony Birkett, a parish councillor, for carrying out the first Community Speedwatch session of our new scheme.
They monitored vehicles travelling from Farnham Royal to Farnham Common outside Dair House School earlier today.
The objectives of the Scheme are:
- Increasing public awareness of speeding and other traffic offences
- Improving the safety and quality of life for local communities
- Reducing deaths, injuries and collisions
If you would like to get involved and join the group, please email the co-ordinator at clerk@farnhamroyal-pc.gov.uk

A355 Traffic Survey – the results are in…
As a result of concerns raised by residents during 2019, the Parish Council commissioned Transport for Buckinghamshire (TfB) to conduct a traffic survey on the A355. Having received the raw data from TfB Graham Thomas, a resident, kindly agreed to review the data and produce a user friendly summary that could be shared with all residents. The Parish Council would like to thank Mr Thomas for his help on this project and presents his summary below.
https://farnhamroyal-pc.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/FRPC-Traffic-survey-summary-v2.pdf
The Parish Council has discussed the volume of traffic, type of vehicles and speed of vehicles on the A355 many times with local county councillors and this dialogue will continue but county councillors advise that given that the road is a main ‘A’ road the installation of physical traffic calming measures is unlikely. Their latest recommendation is to ensure that factors effecting the condition of the road such as road surface and drainage maintenance should be a focus.
In a effort to tackle speeding in the villages, last year the Parish Council tried to relaunch the Community Speedwatch initiative in partnership with Thames Valley Police. A meeting was held which was attended by some residents but unfortunately when it came to the mandatory training session, only Parish Councillors took part and the scheme cannot run successfully without more volunteers. Although the scheme is currently suspended due to Covid19 restrictions, the Parish Council would very much like to use this valuable resource and is therefore asking again for volunteers. If you are able to help please email the Clerk at clerk@farnhamroyal-pc.gov.uk to register your interest.
