Parish Council Plans and the Precept
Since taking over devolved responsibility for grass cutting, hedge cutting, siding out verges and street furniture from Bucks County Council it has become clear that a huge programme of works needs to take place to rectify the years of neglect of these by the County and hopefully give the Farnhams back its footways. The Parish Council is taking steps to start these works as soon as possible with the initial efforts being along the A355. The monies received from the County barely cover routine maintenance and so the Parish Council has taken the decision to increase the precept by about 5 pounds per annum per household to cover the outlay required to improve the environment in which residents live.
Although the Parish Council’s reserves appear high, a considerable proportion of the reserves have been ringfenced for works in connection with Kingsway Green and the Guide Hut area in Farnham Common and would not be available to put towards the necessary works on the A355.
